Frequently Asked Questions
What packaging will my products be sent in?
All our packaging is recyclable & biodegradable to help limit the amount of harmful chemicals released into the atmosphere. Paper, Card and Biodegradable plastic bags are used and are a more planet friendly solution as they are able to break down into harmless material more quickly than traditional plastics. We will also reuse the cardboard boxes our product comes to us in so there less waste.
We are working with our supply chain so no single use plastic are used at any time.
What does ‘sustainable’ mean?
Sustainability is the ability to exist constantly – simples!
What does ‘biodegradable’ mean?
A biodegradable product that is one that is capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution. This does take time and depending on the materials can still take months even years. Bamboo Stone is aiming for all our products to be biodegradable, after you’ve used and re-used them!
What are ‘natural material products’?
We use a number of natural materials in our products at Bamboo Stone – these are:
Bamboo
A fast-growing resource, reaching maturity in just 5 years. Its sustainability without pesticides makes it even safer for both you and the environment.
It is often spun into all different shapes and sizes making it the perfect material for bowls, trays etc and the fibers can be used in fabrics.
Sea Grass
Technically isn’t a grass at all but a flowering plant that has evolved to live on ocean floors. The plant is more closely related to lilies than to true grasses.
Seagrass grows in large beds, which resemble meadows – another reason why it is called grass. Used in furniture and spun into baskets, it’s a very versatile material.
Wheat Straw
Wheat (hay) straws are likely the most ethical and sustainable straw of choice as the plant never has to be cut down to use.
Traditionally the stalks are left from when wheat grains are harvested. So, has been treated as waste. It can be reclaimed and mixed with sugar, then formed and baked to make our wheat straw products.
Water Hyacinth
Is a weed ubiquitously found in lakes, rivers and other water bodies across the globe.
With high rates of regeneration, survival and growth, it is a sustainable material and used for many products such as baskets and furniture.
Cotton
Sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable, it is an excellent choice as an environmentally-friendly fiber throughout its entire product life cycle. Our cotton products are Organic.
I love my new Bamboo Stone product – how can I look after it to keep it in the best condition?
Bamboo Linen
Wash at low temperature of 30 degrees, line dry and cool iron.
Bamboo linens will feel heavier than Cotton. They are softer and smoother to the touch.
There’s a handy tie inside each top corner to hold your duvet in place.
Blankets and Throws
All our blankets are made from natural materials so there may be some visible shedding of fibers.
Each blanket has a care label stitched into the seam for washing instructions.
Bamboo Products
Please do not place your wooden items into a dishwasher.
Simply hand wash with a mild detergent to help with the life span of the product.
Some detergents will damage the wood.
Make-up Remover Pads
Place in the little mesh bag and into your normal 30 degree wash.
Some make up may stain the pads but this does not affect the use.
